Let’s start with the beginning. On June 11th, 1987, Lucille Marie Kayde and Sasha Juliet Kayde were born to Eselde Kayde and her mate, Victor Barnes. Eselde and Victor were quite a unique couple. Victor was basically a freak, half-vampyre and half-werewolf. Yet somehow, he managed to find love with Eselde, a young and powerful witch descended from a long line of respected sorceresses.They never married. They didn’t need to. Sasha and Lucille is what they had, and that was all they needed.

Anyhow, a few years passed and the family ran into some problems. No matter how hard they tried to blend in, to be normal, hunters always seemed to come after them. The girls were four years old at the time, not aware of anything supernatural. Their parents wanted to keep it that way. However, problems arose. Lucille, being the curious little girl she was, had noticed her parents’ problems and set off about helping them. Unfortunately, that didn’t go as planned. Lucille had gotten ahold of a very bad book, one of black magic. Her mother hadn’t performed any spells from that book, she just looked at it. Lucille didn’t know that.
Unknowingly, she conjured a powerful demon. It possessed Eselde, alerting hunters all around. It stayed there for weeks, torturing Harold in front of Lucille and Sasha. Finally, the hunters arrived. But they did little to improve Lucille and Sasha’s situation. Being hunters, they immediately saw Harold and the possessed Eselde as monsters. So they did their job.. in front of Sasha and Lucille.

Soon after that, the girls were booted off to an orphanage. If you asked any of the headmistresses of the various orphanages they went to, you’d be told that Lucille and Sasha were very quiet children. And they were. They kept to themselves for the most part. That is, until they turned ten. That’s when Sasha’s psychic powers started forming. All the young kids and older ones alike would hang around just to hear her read minds. Lucille hated it. Big whoop, she read minds.

As they grew older, their knowledge of the supernatural grew as well. They learned all sorts of things, including their family’s background. You should know now, when a Kayde loses their v-card, a spiral burns into their left palm. It was like a right-of-passage thingy, the spiral helped them focus their abilities.
Lucille has a purple spiral that she received at the age of 16. Sasha didn’t get one until she turned twenty-four, it’s a bright blue.

Back to the story. As a few years passed, the sixteen-year-olds Lucille and Sasha become emancipated, moving from orphanages to their own apartment in a tiny little town off the map. They were happy…for the most part. However, Lucille kept a secret. She practiced black magic. She still does. And yet, Sasha hasn’t found out yet. Sasha has her own secrets to keep..
